Vive la différence?

Squeezing this in before Europe vanishes for Easter, if they haven’t already. On the subject of Europe, a great piece about Tech Bros in Europe, The dictionary sues OpenAI, and all sorts of mac tweaking power user wonder. Enjoy!

  • Its hard to justify Tahoe icons @ tonsky.me

    tonsky.me

Honestly, they never bothered me. But removing them? Oh, it's wonderful!

  • The dictionary sues OpenAI | TechCrunch

    techcrunch.com

It's a little on the edge of reasonable as who really owns the meaning of words, but I like their gumption (noun: informal she had the gumption to go and make a better life for herself.).

  • The Great AI Deskilling Has Begun - Business Insider

    businessinsider.com

An often unsaid negative side effect of using AI tools is that you're not really learning anything new, or worse, forgetting existing skills. And as we feel pressure on the jobs market, will AI take our jobs because, well, we're not very good at them anymore?

  • I replaced my custom Mac app audio routing solution with Elgato Wave Link version 3 and love it

    youtube.com

For a little while, I used a cobbled-together solution on macOS for controlling app volumes with an external device. I was quite proud of it and its flakiness. But now Elgato updated their Wave Link software, and the solution is so much easier! If you use a Stream Deck.

  • Twitter at 20: How we lost the public square

    fastcompany.com

Yes, I remember the good old days when broadcasting to the world about the most and least significant things in your life didn't seem like a bad idea. Perhaps it was the novelty. Perhaps it was naivety. Either way, I kind of miss those days. Social media has now splintered into so many different platforms and places, it's exhausting knowing where to start and how to communicate. I have generally just stopped trying.

  • Europe's tech bro renaissance is upon us. Sigh | Sifted

    sifted.eu

Baseball caps, vests, fitness obsessions, and bros backslapping each other about their own self-importance. Sounds like Silicon Valley, eh? Increasingly, it's European tech too. What a shame. What a time.
